Tesla Cybertruck 9,000-ton Giga Press components commence to arrive in Texas

Monday, December 19, 2022 | Chimniii Desk

The manufacture of Tesla's steel beast is getting closer and closer. Not long after an image of a Cybertruck body prototype leaked from Gigafactory Texas, videos from the site now reveal that the 9,000-ton Giga Press for the all-electric pickup truck is being delivered. Tesla appears to be on pace to begin production of the Cybertruck next year.

When disassembly veteran Sandy Munro, who has conducted in-depth investigations of multiple Teslas, offered his early thoughts on the leaked Cybertruck body shot from Giga Texas, he stated that the apparent rear megacast in the body was actually comprised of several lost-foam casted sections. This suggested that the leaked image depicted a prototype of the Cybertruck's rear megacast.

Munro said that the actual megacasts of the Cybertruck would necessitate the presence of IDRA's 9,000-ton flagship Giga Press, which Tesla has ordered for the all-electric pickup truck. Drone flyovers of the Giga Texas complex have not yet shown that the 9,000-ton press has been completely installed. However, recent photographs taken around Giga Texas indicate that components of the enormous machine are already arriving on-site.

Joe Tegtmeyer, a drone pilot and Giga Texas observer, just posted a video of his recent aerial flyover of the gigantic plant. The most interesting aspect of Tegtmeyer's recent flyover were the parts of IDRA's 9,000-ton Giga Press. While Tegtmeyer's footage provided a number of interesting insights into the various construction projects currently being conducted in the Giga Texas complex, the parts of IDRA's Giga Press were arguably the most interesting.

The 9,000-ton Giga Press components were observed by the drone operator in the northwest bay of the casting machine construction. Among the components were two enormous, red compression plates and a lengthy box with an IDRA emblem believed to contain some of the tie bars for the 9,000-ton Giga Press. Given the size and construction of the huge apparatus, it would not be shocking if other components of IDRA's flagship Giga Press were sighted in Giga Texas within the next several weeks.

Despite the belief of some that the Cybertruck may never be released, updates from Giga Texas and rising photographs of the electric pickup truck at Tesla facilities show the project is steadily reaching production. Tesla confirmed this on its earnings call for the third quarter of 2022, when the company revealed that Giga Texas will begin early Cybertruck production in mid-2023.
