What began as a four-person business in 2017 has grown to a 100-person space technology firm focused on making a difference in India's space sector. Agnikul Cosmos, the IIT Madras-based space technology startup, has accomplished several key milestones in the four years since its founding. It is presently attempting to meet the demands of small-scale satellite producers by offering a cost-effective cab-like service for satellite transport to low Earth orbit. The business has already created its first rocket, dubbed Agnibaan, with the goal of launching it in 2022.

Srinath Ravichandran, co-founder and CEO of Agnikul Cosmos, recently spoke with Gadgets360 about his road to developing the firm and their first rocket. Ravichandran was a talented electrical engineer who left a secure position in finance in December 2017 to create Agnikul Cosmos. Now, his company is on the verge of becoming one of India's most prominent space technology enterprises, paving the way for the country's other private space technology startups.

Indeed, Ravichandran asserts that India will soon have its own SpaceX, owing to India's current favourable atmosphere for space entrepreneurs, many of which are raising capital. Ravichandran emphasised Agnikul's accomplishments in the industry, noting that the company recently inked an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), a first in India.

Additionally, Agnikul has raised $15 million in finance over the last three years and completed numerous partnerships, including one with the Alaska Aerospace Corporation in the United States. Currently, the corporation is increasing its vendor database in order to ensure a steady supply of components for the Agnibaan rocket's development.

According to Ravichandran, the MoU with ISRO enables Agnikul Cosmos to collaborate with the Indian Space Research Organization and have access to their infrastructure for testing subsystems like as engines and avionics packages. Additionally, ISRO would assist the company in developing its Agnibaan launch rocket, which is capable of carrying up to 100 kilogrammes of tiny satellites.

Thus, Agnikul Cosmos is leading the road for other space technology businesses in India by providing organisations with cost-effective space technologies. We encourage that you read the complete interview with Gadgets360 to learn about the company's history and a few more intriguing nuggets.
