There are obstructions that can block the signals being sent to and from the satellites. A wide field of view is needed for the Starlink dish. The dish will point slightly north if you live in the northern hemisphere. Your internet performance will suffer if you have obstructions. To function properly, Starlink needs a mounting location with no obstructions. Stand outside and install the Starlink dish. Check For Obstructions can be found in the Starlink app.

Follow the instructions on the screen when you are ready to begin. The tool will use your phone's camera to find obstructions in the sky. You will be presented with the results indicating whether the location is suitable or not after completing the scans. You will need to find a mounting location free of obstructions, so continue scanning at different locations until you find a suitable place to install the dish.
Everything you need to experience the next generation of satellite internet is contained in your Starlink box
When you open it up, check for the following pieces:
Dish/antenna
Mounting base
75′ cable
Wireless router
Wireless router power cord

To assemble, first plug the 75′ data/power cable into the dish
The mast has a connection near it. There are two different sides to the cable. One is straight and the other is an elbow. The dish has a straight plug in. As shown in the image below, make sure the connector is fully seated. Attach the mast to the base with the help of the two spring tabs. It is possible to use the included mounting base for permanent, temporary, or portable installations. If you plan to mount the dish on your roof, I recommend testing it with the included base. You should install the dish in the same location you checked for obstructions. Starlink only works well when there are no obstructions. You can use aftermarket mounts as well. Check out our Starlink mounting guide for more information. The other end of the cable needs to be routed inside your house.

The elbow connects to the bottom of the routers. You will have to drill a hole for the cable to go through. You can run it through an open window for testing. The wall outlet with the supplied power cable is the final connection. Make sure your dish is mounted where you want it, and that you are free to tilt it. Once you connect to the internet, the dish will start searching for satellites. The dish is self aligning. There is no need to move, aim, or align the dish. If the dish mast is close to the ground, Starlink will find satellites.
When the router powers on, it will begin an initialization process that can take several minutes
You can open the settings on your phone after a few minutes. There is a new wireless network called STINKY. Proceed if you connect to it. A new window will open after a successful connection, asking you to change the network name and password. You are now connected to your Starlink system. You can connect to your new Starlink network with the password you just created.
