KDDI is Japan's second-largest mobile provider, covering over 90% of the population with 4G communication. It has a band that extends over half of the land area. KDDI is one of the partnerships that Musk mentioned during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. According to an interview with Musk in the Financial Times, China does not want Starlink. According to Musk, Beijing disapproves of his recent deployment of Starlink in Ukraine to help the military circumvent Russia's cut-off of the internet. He said Beijing wanted assurances that he wouldn't sell Starlink in China.
