His latest scheme is completely unexpected, as all indications indicate that we may soon see a new brand of mobile phones on the market, manufactured by Elon Musk's Tesla.

What will the mobile phone's appearance and name be? What distinguishing characteristics is it likely to have? And, perhaps most importantly, when can we anticipate Elon Musk making an official announcement and making the product available for purchase? In a moment, we'll fill you in on all the details.

Elon Musk has spent the last two decades achieving the unthinkable, revolutionising the automobile and space industries entirely on his own. Musk has never stated explicitly whether he intends to enter the highly competitive smartphone manufacturing industry.

However, for a long period of time, rumours had been flying out of Tesla factories. According to such reports, designer Martin Hajek created a mockup of what a Tesla smartphone might look like if Musk ever decides to develop a connected device for his electric vehicles in 2018.

As one might expect, Martin Hajek's hypothetical Tesla Model P smartphone takes on the sculptural form of Tesla automobiles. A spine-like fin that runs the length of the device, which is finished in a glossy red finish, pays homage to Tesla's instantly recognisable design DNA.

The device's carbon fibre speaker grille adds a touch of sportiness, while the notch for the front camera looks strangely similar to the front grille of a Tesla Model S / X. Rather than a boxy shape, the smartphone has a rounded design reminiscent of Tesla automobiles, complete with a curved display on the edges.

By and large, the Tesla Model P smartphone prototype appears to be a luxury item that, even in 2021, will be unlike any other phone on the market. What if we told you that it's not all about mockups and speculations about how a Tesla mobile phone might look? What if we told you that a mobile phone has been in development since at least 2018?

Even though Tesla was having financial difficulties in 2019, this did not appear to deter the company from pursuing new initiatives such as colonising Mars, sending a vehicle into space, and building the world's largest lithium-ion battery in Australia.

According to the SlashLeaks leak, Tesla is developing a smartphone codenamed Quadra. The leak only shows the back and front panels of the Tesla phone, with no additional information about the device. It features slim side bezels, a notch similar to the one on the iPhone X, and no chin.

The notch is slightly smaller than the rest of the phone and may house the earpiece, front camera, and additional sensors. A camera enclosure is located in the upper left corner of the rear panel.

The centre of the rear panel is nearly entirely devoted to a large Tesla logo 'T.' It is possible for the phone's logo to glow. Just below the logo, you can see an alphabet and the number '4'.

The letter is unknown. However, based on the name, the letter is believed to be 'Q.' The Quadra concept appears to have evolved into the 'Model Pi'. Bear in mind that the Model Pi we are about to describe was created by a third-party company called ADR Studios.

We're betting, however, that Elon Musk will seize the opportunity for fairly obvious reasons. Announcing will occur shortly. Starlink is one of SpaceX and Elon Musk's most significant pet projects at the moment, and it pairs perfectly with a Tesla smartphone.

The concept is to establish a network of low-orbit satellites that will enable people to access the internet from anywhere on Earth. Additionally, it is becoming more valuable as time passes.

While Starlink clearly has a long way to go, native compatibility on a Tesla phone appears to be a foregone conclusion. The design is an exact replica of the four-lens configuration seen in early iPhone 12 concept images.

Of course, the iPhone 12's rear camera system actually has three lenses, and there's no telling what a Tesla phone might do. Although cameras are a common way for new flagship models to differentiate themselves, Tesla's plans may be different.

Tesla's desire to clearly differentiate itself through solar charging is a good fit for them. Solar charging is currently possible for a large number of smartphones with the appropriate attachment or cover.

The concept is that you leave it out in the sun for a few hours to partially recharge your battery — which is obviously environmentally friendly. Consider integrating native solar charging into the Model Pi; it's an excellent idea and a perfect fit for Tesla.

The firm has already established a reputation for its elegant solar panel shingles. However, there is one significant disadvantage to converting the back of a smartphone into a solar panel: you cannot use a cover. Otherwise, more smartphone manufacturers would have done so by now.

Biometrics is an obvious choice for a Tesla phone. The company could theoretically use some of its smart camera technology to develop a Face ID system for Tesla's self-driving cars. On the other hand, fingerprint unlocking is a possibility.

In the ADR concept, the ultrasonic sensor is located on the touchscreen. To conclude, another no-brainer: a Tesla phone would almost certainly be natively compatible with Tesla automobiles.

Lock and unlock capabilities, remote controls, and monitoring of all automotive parameters, from battery temperature to light output, are all possible. This would not only be a straightforward decision, but it would also most likely be the phone's primary marketing focus.

In the future, it may be possible to connect it to the Neuralink directly, though this is more of a pipe dream. While this is an Elon Musk product with its own website, the neurotech company is still a long way from commercialising brain-machine interface products.

To enable native connections on a Tesla phone, it must be consumer-grade. We can only hope that Neuralink research will yield some fascinating medical applications in the coming years, such as assisting assistive technology.
