As with individuals worldwide, the creatives at the Wolfgang LA agency spent the initial 2020 lockdown attempting things they would not have attempted otherwise. There is no indication on whether this included sourdough making or avocado cultivation, but it very certainly included some dabbling in the automotive industry. The team at Wolfgang – specifically, the newly formed IP section – came up with the most badass all-electric vehicle imaginable with the assistance of folks for whom they previously created creative advertisements.

It's called the Thundertruck, and it resembles a cross between Tesla's Cybertruck and Batman's Tumbler. It is a fully transformable, all-electric multipurpose vehicle that "stands out like a green thumb" and was developed with the ultimate outdoors in mind. It's a striking sight, with its massive size and sharp angles, but it's ultimately practical and environmentally friendly, and would provide reliability and exceptional performance wherever it's used. At the very least, theoretically.

Perhaps the good news is that it is a possibility. According to Fast Company, Wolfgang founders Colin Jeffery and Mike Geiger describe the Thundertruck as a functioning model created with the assistance of car industry specialists. It reflects the idea that the majority of electric trucks planned for the next few of years will be variations on their ICE (internal combustion engine) counterparts — the same design, but powered by an electric motor.

Perhaps it is time for a revolution in both design and functionality. Perhaps this is the time for the Thundertruck. Correct that: it is unquestionably time for the Thundertruck, but whether we will ever see one is another matter.

Wolfgang explains, "Thundertruck is not your grandfather's truck." "In truth, it is no one's truck at the moment. However, its unique design will soon provide drivers and passengers with a level of versatility and functionality never seen before."

The Thundertruck's all-terrain capability allows for infinite customization, whether it's a pop-up tent in the bed, lateral storage extensions, a loading ramp for a couple of bikes or an ATV, or the Range Extender Unit, which effectively transforms the 4x4 beast into a 6x6 beast. The Thundertruck is designed to drive anywhere, from its off-road capabilities to the amenities it offers and the embedded solar panels.

Indeed, the truck's awning is styled like fold-out bat wings and is completely covered in solar panels. What good is a good truck if it can go everywhere but dies of exhaustion as soon as it arrives, Wolfgang inquires. This solar panel setup efficiently alleviates range anxiety by charging the battery and assisting in the operation of fixed appliances.

The drivers seat of the Thundertruck shows holographic instrumental displays.

The Thundertruck would be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including a holographic information display and its own drone sidekick, which we imagine would be utilised for recon and scoping out the next basecamp. It would be a comfortable, almost sumptuous, all-terrain vehicle with additional green credentials, as well as excellent bragging rights.

The Range Extender Unit, possibly the most startling feature of this e-truck, functions as a portable battery pack that converts the Thundertruck into a 6x6 vehicle, increasing cargo and towing capabilities. The unit adds 36 inches (91.5 cm) to the truck's length and around 1,440 pounds (653 kg) to its weight, but also increases the truck's range from 400 miles (644 km) to 659 miles (1,060 km) on a single charge.

Wolfgang estimates that the 4x4 vehicle will have 800 horsepower and 800 pound-feet (1,084 Nm) of torque, and the 6x6 truck will have 940 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet (1,627 Nm) of torque. The device may detach and function as a "Segway-like companion car," according to the agency's founders.

"Like a Transformer, we intended the vehicle to expand and compress in response to its surroundings," Jeffery adds. Additionally, they wanted it to appear badass, demonstrating that electric vehicles are not necessarily drab and uninspired. The brutalist design is intended to contrast with the truck's silence when in motion.

While there are no clear plans to create a truck similar to this one, Wolfgang feels it is possible — and at a starting price of $70,000. If that day ever comes, the agency has already created an advertisement campaign with taglines such as "It's not for everyone." We could never produce that many." We're crossing our fingers that they make at least one.
