This CYBERTRUCK-inspired Tesla modular rover was made for missions to Mars.

Humanity's dream to set foot on another planet - and perhaps call it home – is not far off, as visionaries such as Elon Musk are certain about colonising Mars within the next few decades. More than a pipedream, NASA's unmanned trips to Mars — the most recent being the landing of the Mars Perseverance rover - have set the groundwork. While rovers scour the planet's surface for indications of life and other intricate details for future expeditions, innovative designers are letting loose their creative juices to show us what the future might look like.

This bug-like rover, which resembles the grandfather of the small Mars rovers we have seen over the years, is actually a waste disposal vehicle for the red planet's tough surface. The D25 Modular Rover is the brainchild of Joshua Cotter, who has redesigned the shape and function of a vehicle to appear as if it was tailormade for Mars' jarring scenery and extreme weather conditions. The three-part vehicle is composed of an electrically powered modular platform chassis, a cabin crew module, and a primary waste disposal module. While the first two are standard on the vehicle, the waste disposal module can be replaced out for different customisable modules as needed.

Joshua imbues the modular rover with an optimistic personality that contrasts with the NASA, Tesla, and SpaceX branding. The rover's razor-sharp appearance is reminiscent of a Cybertruck, as it is designed to traverse abrasive terrain present on the planet. Additionally, the module might be prepared for any reconnaissance flights in the event that an alien race decides to claim first rights on the planet. Who knows what the uncertain future contains for humanity, given our inevitability of encountering other life forms in our galaxy and universe. The D25 Modular Rover appears to be prepared for such an occurrence!
