In the face of most adversity, Musk's Tesla is actively attempting to keep you moving. Now, according to a recent document, the automaker has a new patent for a tyre inflation system that is superior to current technology. It can also be used for semis and trucks.

By staying true to its character, Tesla is demonstrating once again that it can improve transportation. According to a recently published United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) petition, a new tyre inflation mechanism is in the works. This one may be beneficial for passenger cars like the Model X and Y, as they're typically used by large families for longer trips, but it'll function best with trucks or semis. After all, Musk's firm is eager to begin producing and delivering cybertrucks and semis.

The above-mentioned document, which you can find attached at the conclusion of the post, points out that maintaining the target pressure in tyres is critical but challenging. Automatic tyre inflation systems have been created by companies, although they are now in a primitive state. Much-needed air, for example, is routed through axles to a fitting connected to the tire's air inlets. As a result, leaks are more likely to occur.

Tesla is attempting to address such concerns by incorporating valves, a controller, and a variety of air outputs. These will function in a novel system that comprises a spindle, with the first hose attaching a valve of the computer-controlled valves to the channel generated in the spindle. There will also be a rotational air seal between the drive axle's inner and outer bearings, which will help maintain the channel intact. As a result, any form of leakage is virtually impossible. The airstream will not be contaminated, and the system's lifespan will be extended.

Maintaining the manufacturer's suggested tyre pressure could become critical for transportation. Electric trucks and semis aren't very efficient yet, so everything that can help get these vehicles as far as feasible on a single charge will be used.
