A group of maniacs decided to modify a Tesla Model 3 into a tank with some gigantic chain tracks, resulting in a 6-ton electric off-roading machine.

We predict that during the next few decades, every ground transportation vehicle, including off-roading vehicles, will be battery-electric. It is not a high-priority segment for electrification, but it is gradually gaining electric possibilities.

Some people, however, are impatient and choose to build their own using current electric vehicles.Tesla vehicles have been appealing for conversions due to their popularity and excellent electric powertrains.

We've seen Tesla owners add snow tyres and off-road suspensions to their vehicles to make the Model 3 the ideal off-road vehicle, but nothing compares to what these German YouTubers did with this Model 3.

They turned the electric car into a big, 6-ton electric tank by adding giant tank tracks.

The vehicle took four weeks to construct, with the majority of that time spent constructing the massive tracks using 1.3-ton chains.

The end result is unquestionably impressive: you get a Model 3 with 80 cm (31 inches) of ground clearance that can handle some tough terrain.

In case those tracks get stuck anywhere, the YouTuber fitted a front winch with a 6-ton capacity. They have yet to post a video of the vehicle being tested off-road, but they promise it will be available shortly.
