Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to a tweet yesterday, January 17, 2022, at noon, saying that the company's Full Self-Driving Beta Version 10.9 would begin rolling out later this week. Not long after, we saw some jokes and parodies regarding Musk and his bizarre timelines on Twitter.

Whole Mars began a tweet thread in response to a recent full-page ad in the New York Times. For those who aren't aware, Tesla's FSD Beta programme is being pursued by a competitor in the automated driving market.

Following Musk's attention being drawn to Whole Mars, he asked the CEO when Giga Texas would open, coupled with a personal request for Musk to email him FSD Beta 10.9. Musk responded that the firmware update would be made available later this week. He did not, however, address the topic of the Texas factory.

The reason for the jokes and memes on Twitter is that 10.9 began rolling out after Musk stated "later this week." Musk has a reputation for being far too optimistic in many instances, such as when he claims something will arrive in two weeks but it takes months. Indeed, several of Tesla's most awaited items have been in development for years.

Having said that, the CEO relishes the opportunity to sandbag. The Model Y came months ahead of schedule, and Tesla was already manufacturing 4680 battery cells in-house following its Battery Day announcement that the technology would not be available immediately. Many Tesla enthusiasts and owners can only hope that the Tesla Cybertruck is released sooner rather than later. However, with Musk, it's nearly impossible to predict the future.

In any case, Tesla provided the FSD Beta release notes a few days ago, since workers received the update ahead of the beta fleet. Then, at approximately 7:00 PM yesterday, James Locke tweeted the release details and shared several videos of FSD Beta Version 10.9 – software update 2021.44.30.10 – in action.
