Rivian vehicles must be parked with a range of at least 35 miles and must not be connected to a DC fast charger in order to install OTA updates, as several owners noted. During installation, some functionality, such as locking and accessing the cabin, front trunk, gear tunnel, and tailgate, may be disrupted.
Rivian's update version 2021.49.2 includes navigation app upgrades, Bluetooth connectivity updates, and audio enhancements. Additionally, the business enhanced the automatic locking/unlocking, climate control, and defrost features on R1 automobiles.
Several Rivian R1 users stated that their UI felt "snappier" after installing version 2021.49.2, which could be due to the company's multiple UI changes, including smoother transitions between apps and improved efficiency of the infotainment system.
Additionally, Rivian enhanced UI support for the backup camera view. The business did add, though, that the rear display would be temporarily disabled, but should be restored in a future update.
Rivian also enhanced Driver+'s safety and awareness notifications, as well as the functionality of Highway Assist. It'll be interesting to see whether any R1 drivers notice any noticeable improvements in Drive+ and Highway Assist over the next few weeks.
Rivian's most recent OTA update appeared to run relatively easily and without incident, which bodes well for the future. Rivian tends to take a progressive approach to everything it undertakes, which enables it to execute each milestone flawlessly.
