    • The most visible alteration on the new Cybertruck, however, is the addition of a massive windshield wiper that covers the entire length of the truck's windshield.
    • The second proposal is to replace windshield wipers with lasers.
    • At first sight, this concept appears to be too science fiction, however Tesla already owns the patent for such an instrument.
    • Tesla was granted a patent for the laser windshield wiper concept just a few months ago, and as a result, there has been little talk about execution.
    • Musk stated simply, "lasers are capable of everything.

Tesla May Replace Windshield Wipers with Lasers - Nerdist

Tesla has been heavily promoting the Cybertruck in recent days. To begin, the EV manufacturer launched Cybertruck-themed socks, followed by a Cybertruck-themed whistle. Then Tesla upped the ante with a Cyberquad for children inspired by the Cybertruck.

However, the hoopla around Cybertruck did not end there. Following the removal of all Cybertruck variations from Tesla's online configurator, Elon Musk acknowledged the addition of a new Cybertruck model with four motors and tank turn capabilities. According to new speculations, the quad-motor Cybertruck will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 1.99 seconds.

Elon has also stated during the Wall Street Journal's CEO summit that he will provide a more detailed update on the Cybertruck next month during Tesla's upcoming Q4 earnings conference.

Additionally, there have been unconfirmed allegations that Tesla had cancelled the rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck and replaced it with a dual motor variation.

To top it all, we got our first look of the new Cybertruck racing around the Fremont track today. We noticed several alterations in the drone footage, including a charging port in the rear tyre well, side view mirrors, a gate separating the vehicle's interior and bed, and numerous other minor tweaks.

The most visible alteration on the new Cybertruck, however, is the addition of a massive windshield wiper that covers the entire length of the truck's windshield. Some members of the Tesla community expressed disappointment at the sight of such an eyesore on the otherwise flawless truck.

Musk also appears to agree that the massive windshield wiper looks out of place on the Cybertruck, confirming late yesterday night that the production vehicle will not include the massive wiper.

Musk's confirmation came as a relief to the majority of Cybertruck fans. However, this does not address the issue of the futuristic truck's windscreen.

The natural location for the windshield wiper in any vehicle is between the hood and the windshield; however, the Cybertruck's design leaves no space between the two truck sections. This implies Tesla must develop innovative windshield wiper concepts or positions in order to keep the Cybertruck's future look.

Musk appears to concur, adding on Twitter, "the wiper is what bothers me the most." There is no simple solution." Musk has proposed several solutions to this problem. To begin, Musk argues that a "deployable wiper that stows in the front trunk is perfect, but complicated.

It's unclear how this system will function; based on Musk's tweet, this strategy appears to require Tesla to make a cut-out in the Cybertruck's front trunk, as well as a sophisticated network of hinges and motors.

The second proposal is to replace windshield wipers with lasers. At first sight, this concept appears to be too science fiction, however Tesla already owns the patent for such an instrument. Tesla goes into greater detail in the patent to explain the laser windshield wiper writing...

“A cleaning system for a vehicle includes a beam optics assembly that emits a laser beam to irradiate a region on a glass article of the vehicle, debris detection circuitry that detects debris accumulated over the region, and control circuitry. The control circuitry calibrates a set of parameters associated with the laser beam emitted from the beam optics assembly based on detection of the debris accumulated over the region on the glass article, controls an exposure level of the laser beam on the debris accumulated based on calibration of the set of parameters associated with the laser beam, wherein the exposure level is controlled based on pulsing the laser beam at a calibrated rate that limits penetration of the laser beam to a depth that is less than a thickness of the glass article and removes the debris accumulated over the region on the glass article using the laser beam.”

Tesla was granted a patent for the laser windshield wiper concept just a few months ago, and as a result, there has been little talk about execution. However, Musk hinted with the laser wiper notion last night.

Responding to a Twitter user who commented, "Am I the only one sad that the wiper blades have been replaced by large wiper blades?" @elonmusk, where are our lasers? We require lasers!" Musk stated simply, "lasers are capable of everything."

To be fair, this is hardly the most direct confirmation from the Tesla CEO. Musk, on the other hand, will surely want to keep some information under wraps with the upgraded Cybertruck presentation just a month away.

At the moment, it is unknown what form of windshield wiper implementation the EV manufacturer will use on the Cybertruck. Until Tesla decides to provide a more detailed update on the Cybertruck, we will have to rely on Musk's cryptic tweets.

So, what are your thoughts? Are you okay with your automobile having lasers as a windshield wiper? Additionally, what are your thoughts on placing the wiper in the front trunk?
