In response to his dispute with the BBC about impartiality, Gary Lineker has taken Twitter and Elon Musk to task after a death threat made against his son, George.

The presenter, who was restored as host of Match Of The Day on Monday, re-shared the private message sent from a user, which labelled his kid as a "mug" and suggested he ought to be "burned at the stake".

Is this acceptable @Twitter @elonmusk? And I don’t mean the grammar. pic.twitter.com/fCVIIq3we2

Lineker was largely silent on Twitter during the controversy, but now that the BBC has reversed course, he is starting to post again.

Lineker wrote: "Is this OK, Elon Musk on Twitter? Not the grammar, either."

To the Tweet, Musk has not yet answered.

The BBC had suspended Lineker, 62, for his tweets that compared the rhetoric surrounding the government's illegal immigration strategy to Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

In the midst of the controversy, George came out in defence of his father, saying that he shouldn't apologise for "being a nice person" and that he was "proud of the old man".

George stated of the criticism he had faced during the argument, "Social media's mad isn't it. I've never received so many kind notes on Instagram in the last few days. Never received so much hatred on Twitter.

It has nothing to do with me at all.

The BBC's director general, Tim Davie, stated that the controversy was brought on by "grey areas" in the organization's social media policy and announced that an independent assessment of the guidelines would now be conducted.

He mentioned this in a Monday speech: "We have agreed that Gary will follow the editorial standards from now until the review is published (and I have talked to Gary extensively about this). We are in that situation now."

Lineker said that he will keep using the platform in a statement made in November of last year, following Musk's acquisition of the website.

"Certainly, there are things happening, but I haven't really observed that they have an impact on my Twitter at the moment," he remarked. We must wait to learn what it is and where it's headed.

We're all waiting to see what will happen and how Mr. Musk will implement his ideas, which seem to come to him every five minutes. These are fascinating times.

"I won't stand here and declare that I'm going to stop using Twitter because I'm not.

It's a tremendous platform, and I try to utilise it for causes that I believe are important as well as for some lightheartedness, promoting my career, and talking about football.
