Musk and Zelensky are arguing over the Ukraine peace plan poll

Zelensky hit back at Musk after he posted a poll with his suggestions for ending Russia's invasion. Mr Musk asked his age. 7 million people voted on ideas that included ceding territory to Russia. Mr Zelensky asked users if they liked the richest person in the world more when he supported Ukraine. Mr Musk was criticized by other Ukrainians. The outgoing ambassador to Germany, Andrij Melnyk, used a strong expletive.

The Russian chess grandmaster said that this is a betrayal of Ukrainian courage and sacrifice. A rare glimpse of daily life in occupied Ukraine was included in Mr Musk's ideas. The multi-billionaire said that Russia should leave if the people decide to do so. President Putin has already declared four Ukrainian regions to be part of Russia, following so-called referendums denounced as fraudulent by Kyiv and its Western allies. Russia does not have complete control of the four regions. The world should formally recognize the annexation of the peninsula by Russia, suggested Mr Musk.

According to Forbes magazine, the world's richest person in 2022, cautioned that the conflict could end in nuclear war. The Foreign Minister of Ukraine said that those who propose to give up on their people and land should stop using the word "peace". Mr Musk's suggestions were welcomed by the Kremlin. The spokesman said it was positive that Musk was looking for a peaceful way out of the situation. More than two million votes were cast after Mr Musk's poll was posted for 10 hours. Mr Zelensky asked, "Which Elon Musk do you like more, one who supports Ukraine or one who supports Russia?" Eight hours after it was posted, that poll had been voted on. 5 million times. Mr Musk's satellite internet company sent equipment to Ukraine. 

When the war with Russia ended, Mr Musk was invited to visit by Mr Zelensky. The businessman posted his poll during a busy week when he is due to give evidence to lawyers acting for the social networking site. Mr Musk walked away from a deal to buy the social media platform.
