Elon Musk's mother says she slept on a "mattress or blanket" when she visited her millionaire son, who has previously stated that she slept in her garage near the SpaceX launch pad.

Maye Musk, Elon Musk's mother, has some unorthodox sleeping arrangements when she visits her son.

This isn't the first time the 74-year-old model has mentioned her son's sleeping arrangements. She told The Times UK last year that when she visits SpaceX's CEO in Boca Chica, Texas, where the company's headquarters and Starbase launch facility are located, she does not sleep in a normal bedroom.

"I have to sleep in the garage," she explained to the news site. "You can't have a fancy house near a rocket launch site."

Elon has said in the past that he does not have a “main residence”, although he does live in a “very small” house in Boca Chica worth $45,000.

“My friends come over and stay and they can’t believe I’m living in this house,” he said earlier this month on “The Full Send” podcast.

He said the home, which is 800 to 900 square feet, “is technically a three-bedroom, but it used to be a two-bedroom” before he converted his garage.

The billionaire also has a $50,000, 375-square-foot prefab tiny home that he uses to host guests.

In 2020, Elon announced that he will be "selling almost all material possessions" and "will not have a home."

When asked if Musk was interested in material assets in a Times UK interview, May replied, "No, not in that sense at all."

Maye has stated that her family was not always prosperous. Maye stated she was raising three children as a single mother while earning two master's degrees and creating a profession as a model, dietician, and nutritionist when Elon was very small. The book "A Woman Makes a Plan" claims that

May and her family were born in South Africa and moved to Canada in 1989. He stated that he had to work five jobs at the same time to maintain his family at the time.

Maye also assisted Elon and Kimble in launching Zip2, their first business, which subsequently became PayPal, and gave their entire funds to support office fees. In a 2015 interview with Insider, he called it "the best investment I ever made."
