The millionaire announced the debut of "Giga Beer" inspired by Cybertrucks, which may or may not be sold by a Texas brewery. Musk made the announcement during the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg County Fair, a festival honouring Tesla's new Gigafactory in Grünheide, outside Berlin. Additionally, it is unknown where the beer will be sold. Starbase Brewing bills itself as the "Official Brewery of Mars," a somewhat strong claim for a brewery that has not yet opened. ( The company is currently renovating the property formerly occupied by Austin's Orf Brewing, but plans to open at least one brewpub in Boca Chica. According to the website, the ultimate goal is to establish the first brewery on Mars. "
Additionally, it is unknown where the beer will be sold. Tesla's recent registration of two trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office provides a clue. The company registered the moniker "Giga Bier," which was emblazoned on the bottle during Musk's presentation. The other version is in English: "Giga Beer." Now for the Texan twist: on the same application date, an Austin brewery-to-be named Starbase Brewing registered its own trademark for "GigaBeer."
Starbase Brewing bills itself as the "Official Brewery of Mars," a somewhat strong claim for a brewery that has not yet opened. (However, this fact has not deterred its unknown proprietors from selling T-shirts.) Despite being named after the Boca Chica SpaceX launch facility, the website makes it plain that "Starbase Brewing is not related, associated, authorised, supported, or in any way formally connected with SpaceX, or any of its companies or affiliates." We are, nonetheless, tremendous fans." The company is currently renovating the property formerly occupied by Austin's Orf Brewing, but plans to open at least one brewpub in Boca Chica. According to the website, the ultimate goal is to establish the first brewery on Mars. "GigaBeer" may be just the ticket for Starbase's beer fantasies to take flight.

Starbase, like Tesla, did not reply to a request for comment (true fans, indeed). Were its proprietors inspired to file a very similar trademark out of fandom, or were they hired to manufacture the beer for Tesla? As with a fine lager, the intricacies of Giga Bier will gradually unravel. (When asked about prospective competition, Austin Beerworks' Michael Graham responded, "What a coincidence—we're creating an electric car!" Tesla would face severe competition if this were true, judging by the quality of Austin Beerworks' beer.)
This is not Musk's first foray into the alcohol business. In 2020, he launched Tesla Tequila, which comes in lightning bolt–shaped bottles and was produced in Hermosa Beach, California by Nosotros Tequila. Although the tequila is no longer being sold legally, empty bottles are still being sold online for up to $1,000. Bottles of Giga Bier, full or empty, are certain to be a smashing success.
We have no idea how Giga Bier will taste or even if it will ever materialise, but that is beside the point. Musk has already done what he does best—energizing his passionate fan base and getting the internet buzzing about the upcoming launch. There is no news on whether this beer will be self-serve, but we can only hope. That would not be enjoyable.
