Tesla China's official online shopping mall has run out of stock of one of the company's peripheral goods, the Tesla Cyberwhistle, following a buying frenzy by Tesla enthusiasts.

Although the Cyberwhistle's local pricing of 350 yuan ($55) is more than 30 yuan higher than its international price, it swiftly sold out upon its release to Chinese consumers.

The limited-edition Cyberwhistle, inspired by Tesla's Cybertruck, is a premium collectible constructed of medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. For increased versatility, the whistle incorporates an inbuilt attachment mechanism.

Given the scarcity of inventory, the Cyberwhistle immediately became available on Xianyu, Alibaba's second-hand goods marketplace, with prices ranging from 100 to 999 yuan.

Cybertruck, an electric pickup truck announced in 2019, has yet to be delivered. Following CEO Elon Musk's pledge that deliveries will begin in 2021, the Cybertruck was again delayed until 2022.

Tesla recently made significant adjustments to the Cybertruck ordering page on its website, removing the 2022 production estimate entirely. Rather than that, the website states, "As production approaches, you will be able to finalise your configuration."

Since last year, peripheral items offered by global technology corporations have become a hot topic, with several igniting intense debate due to their frequently limited functional value mixed with expensive prices.

Musk encouraged his followers on December 1 not to squander their money on Apple's $19 polishing cloth, instead encouraging them to purchase the company's $50 whistle.
