Electric vehicles start-tup  In a Super Bowl commercial, Polestar takes shot at Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Volkswagen.

The 30-second commercial, titled "No Compromises," is straightforward and to-the-point. It includes views of the company's Polestar 2 electric vehicle with the word "No" overlaid on them, as well as statements and sentiments intended against other typical Super Bowl commercials and automobile manufacturers.

Following "No," words such as "epic voiceovers" and "dark secrets" are used, as well as "dieselgate" – a reference to a previous diesel emissions controversy involving Volkswagen – and "conquering Mars" – a dig at Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk, who has plans to land humans on Mars by 2026.

"No. 2" and then "Polestar 2," the company's all-electric performance automobile, conclude the commercial.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath stated in a statement, "The Super Bowl is an iconic event, and I'm pleased to communicate Polestar's message to such a large audience." "We are a brand that is fresh and ambitious. For our design language, our sustainability initiatives, and the performance of our automobiles, we believe in "no compromises," and we wanted to communicate that concept with this ad. This is the ideal venue for increasing brand exposure in the United States and beyond."

Volvo Car AB and its owner, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co, own Polestar. The company announced in September that it will go public in the first half of this year by combining with a U.S.-listed blank-check firm backed by billionaire Alec Gores and investment bank Guggenheim Partners for a $20 billion enterprise value.
