US pickup truck owners are renowned for their brand loyalty, with many of them driving the same automaker's models their entire lives. However, the introduction of all-electric trucks appears to disrupt this pattern, at least at this early stage, when not all automakers offer battery-powered models.
According to data from the Silverado EV Forum, there is an interesting trend among reservation holders for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV who are also members of the online community. Over half of the over 100 members who preordered a Silverado EV say they're also considering a Ford F-150 Lightning.
This is quite surprising, but makes sense upon reflection. At the moment, the market does not provide a large number of options for individuals interested in purchasing an electric truck. The Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV are the only models currently being delivered to customers, but both have higher starting MSRPs than the Silverado EV or F-150 Lightning.
