Tesla has recently been showcasing the Cybertruck, with the all-electric pickup truck being brought to the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference (CVPR) in New Orleans.
The presence of the Cybertruck at the event came shortly after Tesla brought over an updated prototype of the all-electric pickup truck at the Formula FAE event at Michigan International Speedway. Tesla, surprisingly, chose to bring its original Cybertruck prototype to CVPR instead.

Tesla's Director of Autopilot Software Ashok Elluswamy shared a photo of the original Cybertruck prototype on social media, inviting attendees to visit the company's booth. The Tesla executive mentioned that members of the Autopilot team as well as some engineers were present at the event. The Cybertruck seemed to draw a lot of attention from the event's attendees, as it had in previous sightings.
The original Cybertruck prototype differs from the most recent versions of the truck in a few ways. The vehicle still has door handles, tyres with aero covers, no side mirrors, no physical wipers, a fully finished interior, and a paper composite dashboard. The updated Cybertruck prototype appears to have changed some of these components, such as the vehicle's dashboard.
According to the event's official website, CVPR 2022 will be the "largest gathering of professionals from around the world and from every aspect of the computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence industry."

A look at the floor plan of the CVPR 2022 exhibitors reveals that Tesla's booth is one of the largest at the event. Other companies known for their AI programmes, such as Apple, Meta, Microsoft, and TikTok, as well as autonomous driving companies like Argo AI and Zoox, have joined Tesla.
Tesla's attendance at the prestigious AI conference emphasises a point that Elon Musk has been emphasising for some time. Musk has stated that, while Tesla is best known for its premium electric vehicles today, the company will be known in the future as an AI robotics company. This is because Tesla is currently "developing one of the world's strongest hardware and software AI teams," according to the CEO.
