Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has instructed his staff to either return to work as soon as possible and work from a Tesla office, or to resign. Elon Musk wrote in an email that went viral on Twitter that working from home was no longer allowed at Tesla. Musk's action comes as Covid-19 cases in the United States have reached a halt and new offices are opening.
According to the leaked email, the Tesla CEO issued an ultimatum to his employees, stressing that a minimum of 40 hours of work per week at the firm was non-negotiable.
"Anyone who wants to work remotely must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean minimum) of 40 hours per week, or they will be fired from Tesla." "This is less than we require of production workers," Musk allegedly wrote in a leaked email.

The world's richest man also stated that if there are any 'special workers' in the workplace who are unable to perform the required hours, he will personally assess and approve their cases. In the disclosed email, Musk stated, "If there are truly extraordinary contributors for whom this is impossible, I will examine and authorise those exclusions directly."
"Moreover, the "office" must be a primary Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job tasks, such as being in charge of human relations at the Fremont factory but having your office in another state," he said.

Hello, Elon, a lot of people are talking about this leaked email, do you have any additional comments for individuals who think going to work is an archaic concept? https://t.co/E3qSBVrJIJ— Whole Mars Catalog (@WholeMarsBlog) June 1, 2022
Musk even responded to a user, proving that the email was not a hoax.

"They should pretend to work somewhere else," Musk said when asked if coming to work was an obsolete concept.
Elon Musk lauded Chinese office workers in a May interview with the Financial Times, saying that they were burning the '3 a.m. oil' rather than the midnight oil. He even said that Americans were avoiding going to work.
