Electric pickup truck Rivian R1T top speed test

Sunday, July 24, 2022 | Chimniii Desk
Unless you intend to spend some time at the track, a pickup truck doesn't actually need to have an absurd top speed. However, top speed is arguably vital to show the general public that electric vehicles are highly capable, and it's far more stunning when it's exhibited with a pickup truck rather than a sports car.

When discussing electric automobiles, people frequently emphasise the instant torque and/or swift acceleration out of the gate. No engine preparation, internal combustion, spooling, or basically anything else is required for an EV to launch promptly; they accelerate smoothly and quickly.

In many ways, it is similar to turning on a light. There is light as soon as you can turn on the switch. There is more power than you'll likely ever need in a car like the Rivian R1T electric pickup truck, as quickly as you can press the accelerator pedal.

When praising an EV's performance, people frequently overlook mentioning its top speed and range. This is due to the fact that gas-powered automobiles may provide better acceleration at higher speeds than electric vehicles, which typically have lower top speeds than performance-oriented gas-powered cars. In some instances, it has also been demonstrated that gas-powered vehicles outlast electric ones, however it appears that EV manufacturers have made significant strides in preventing this from happening.

Having said that, The Fast Lane Truck's crew welcomed Rivian Dad and his R1T (affectionately known as Rocky the Rivian) to a runway that had been closed to traffic so they could compete against a Ford F-150 Lightning electric truck. To test the limits of the R1speed, T's Rivian Dad did four sprints on the runway. Rivian claims that it has a top speed of 115 mph.

The Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T drag race was broadcast in its entirety on the Fast Lane Truck YouTube channel. You can watch it below because we've embedded it. You can see TFL's Roman reach 116 mph in the R1T and see a Ram TRX in the film as well. After watching both movies, scroll down and post a comment for us.
